Leola Marilyn (Hoverson) Sheesley was born to Lawrence and Minnie (Everson) Hoverson April 16, 1930 on the family farm at Niagara, ND. She was baptized and confirmed at Elk Valley Church. On August 1955 she married Carl Sheesley. Carl was a plumbing contractor in Mitchell, SD where they lived and raised three children. She was a loving homemaker.
Leola was an active volunteer for St. Joseph Hospital, Friends of the Middle Border Museum, Meals on Wheels, Home Health Care and as an election worker. She loved dogs and was renowned for her
fear of cats! She loved playing cards and dominoes with friends and family. For a few years she and Carl had a big garden with friends and enjoyed working in it, harvesting and canning together. Carl died in August of 1990. She enjoyed Christian Brothers time with neighbors, taking care of other people and she spoiled all of her grandchildren.
She is survived by her children, Marilyn (Steve) Juel of Harrisburg, SD, Greg (Cindy) Sheesley and Cheri (Bob) Swart of Mitchell; six grandchildren: Bonner and David Juel both of Harrisburg, SD, Ryan (Michelle) Sheesley of Mitchell, SD, Brooke (David) Graham of Memphis,TN, Cody Sheesley and Vickie of Arcata, CA, Jennessy Toribio of Redding, CA; four step-grandchildren: Michelle (Juel) (Bryan) Schirado, Krystal (Juel) Stewart both of Harrisburg, SD, Corinna Swart, Manhattan, KS, Mason Oswald, ID; seven great-grandchildren: Madisyn, Ashtyn, Jaylyn, Emersyn, Layton, Conner and Gavin; seven step-great- grandchildren: Kaylee, Matthew, Nicholas, Brandon, Leigha, Laney and Jackson; one brother, Russell (Jean) Hoverson of Grand Forks, ND; a sister, Bernice (Hoverson) Machovsky of Mitchell, SD and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl; her parents; five brothers: Arthur, Albert, Gilbert, Victor and Chester; five sisters: Lois, Edna, Ella, Leila and Arlene; an infant daughter, Virginia and special adopted family, Don and Margaret Cook.
