Ellen Dora Wait was born January 9, 1921 on the farm south of White Lake to Herman and Edith (Peterson) Nelson. On November 10, 1939 she married Laurence Wait. They lived in Wessington Springs and Huron before moving to the farm south of White Lake in 1943. Ellen spent her life as a loving wife and mother of two children. In 1952, they left the farm, built their home and started their business, Wait’s Garage in White Lake. Ellen enjoyed cooking, fishing and playing cards.
She is survived by her daughter, Marge Knigge and Jim Pejsa, Mitchell and her son, Darrel Wait, White Lake; three grandchildren: Robin Knigge, Renee (Ed) Peters, Darin (Jennifer) Wait, three great-grandchildren: Blake Peters, Shawn and Zachary Wait and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Laurence of 70 years, sisters, Alice Chelstrom and Gladys Gaulke and a brother, Lester Nelson.
