Louis "Louie" Robert Podhradsky was born July 8, 1928 to Walter and Elsie (Shafranek) Podhradsky at Mitchell, SD. He grew up and attended schools in Letcher. On August 21, 1950, he married Doris Tastad at Mitchell. He served in the Korean War while in the U.S. Army from 1950-1953. Since 1960 he owned and operated D & L Implement.
Louie was a member of the First United Methodist Church. For several years he was active in refugee resettlement in the Mitchell community. Also, he enjoyed playing cards and loved spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Doris; daughter, Debra Scott and husband, John of Mitchell; two sons, Robert and wife, Lori of Mitchell and Scott and wife, Anne-Marie of Wagner; twelve grandchildren: Laura Podhradsky, Amy Wilson and husband, Rob, John Podhradsky, Mandy Smith and husband, Columbus, Bobbi Ernst and husband, Tim, Whitney Podhradsky, Mike Scott and wife, Nicole, Kara Shawd and husband, Nick, Nakita Podhradsky, Tatianna Podhradsky, Sasha Podhradsky and Tavia Podhradsky; and thirteen great grandchildren: Austin Podhradsky, Dillion Hawes, Elliot Hawes, Veda Wilson, Lottie Wilson, Finn Wilson, Tenn Smith, Knox Smith, Vanderlae Podhradsky, Hayden Scott, Elise Scott, Carter Shawd, Lily Shawd; a brother, Donald and wife, Joanie of Pierre; and sister-in-law, Ila Uptagraft and husband, Wayne of Rochester, MN.
Louie was preceded in death by his parents, Walter & Elsie; one brother, Wallace; and one sister-in-law, Sharon Podhradsky.
