Obituary

Irma Mae Heiman was born to Albert and Alice Wolf (Paulson) in Alexandria, SD on August 9, 1935.  She grew up on the family farm in Alexandria until meeting her husband, Lawrence Heiman.  On October 1, 1952, Irma married Lawrence Heiman in Menno, SD.  To this union five children were born; Larry, Dennis, Allen, Carol and Jeff.

Lawrence and Irma took care of his family farm in Emery after they were married.  Later, they also farmed in the Emery/Ethan area.  When they moved to Mitchell, Irma worked as a nurses' aide at the Methodist hospital and in the bakery at Randall’s Grocery Store.  Later they moved to Bridgewater where she began working for Olie Olson in the Bridgewater and Freeman bakeries. She continued to work in the Bridgewater bakery for over thirty two years until its closing.  She moved to Mitchell when she retired. Here she enjoyed coffee with her friends and family and many, many games of Bingo.  She could be seen in front of the American Legion at least 2 hours before bingo to be sure she could get her parking space, favorite bingo cards and her favorite seat every time.

She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, great grandchildren and brother and sisters, shopping and watching birds.  Anyone who knew her knows no weed dared grow in her flowerbeds.  Irma was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the First Lutheran Church of Mitchell.

Preceding her in death were her husband Lawrence Heiman and two daughter-in-laws, Toni Heiman and Denise Heiman; her parents, Albert & Alice Wolf; brothers Robert and Don Wolf; sister Norma Schroeder; brother-in-laws Dell and Burt Schroeder, Harold Heiman, Vernon Presuhn and Elmer Backus;  sister- in-laws Vera Presuhn and Esther Backus.

Surviving her are her children: Larry Heiman, Dennis Heiman (Gayli), Allen Heiman(Tami), Carol Gibbs/Schoenfelder (Norm) and Jeff Heiman; her grandchildren: Chris Heiman (Kelli), Jason Heiman, Caley Heiman (Lindsey), Jaimie Heiman, Matt Heiman (Emma), Nicholas Heiman, Tiaunna Heiman, Tim Heiman (Joan), Nichole Sullivan (Dustin), Jim Gibbs, Brad Schoenfelder (Doreen), Mark Schoenfelder (Becca), Nicole Hurrle (Adam), Tyler Heiman, Brittany Warren, Cody Heiman and Trista Heiman and great-grandchildren; Brekken Heiman, Brady Heiman, Mackenzie Heiman, Hunter Heiman, Tanner Heiman, Gracie Heiman, Peightyn Sullivan, Brynleigh Sullivan, Olivia Gibbs, Brody Smith, Bentley Gibbs, Ashleigh Hurrle, Alex Hurrle, Riley Schoenfelder(Kristin), Austin Schoenfelder (Tyalee); and great-great-granddaughter, Hadlee Schoenfelder. Also surviving Irma are her sister, Hilda Schroeder; brother, Harold Wolf (Marcy); her sister Patti Goldhammer (Richard) and brother-in-law, Dale Heiman (Kathleen).

Irma was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and a wonderful friend
to all.  She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
