Obituary

Rose Mary Puetz was born May 27, 1913, at Dimock, to William and Emma (Kretschmer) Neugebauer. She attended rural school at Dimock. On June 15, 1913, Rose received the gift of Holy Baptism and became a child of God. She cared for her grandmother in Delmont then attended the Masters College of Sewing in Chicago.  She moved to Detroit, where she was an inspector for the Chrysler Corporation and then to San Diego where she was an inspector for aircraft during World War II. On August 11, 1946, she married Harold Puetz in Ethan. They lived in Ethan then moved to a farm south of Mount Vernon in January of 1952, where they farmed until moving to Plankinton in November of 2003.

Rose was a seamstress for many years, sewing garments for many wedding parties. Since February of 2010 Rose had been a resident of the Aurora Brule Nursing Home in White Lake. She was a lifetime and the oldest member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church, LWML, charter and fifty year member of the Ethan American Legion Auxiliary, a fifty year member of the Davison County Worthwhile Extension Club and a member of the Davison County Farmers Union.

She is survived by four daughters: Marjean (Marvin) Strand of Plankinton; Mary (Rick) Leger of Elk Grove, CA; Judy (Dave) McCarthy of Rapid City and Elaine Puetz (Tim Bergkamp) of Pipestone, MN; a special son, Jeff Newman of Sioux Falls; 12 grandchildren:  Chad (Cathy) Strand, Autum Strand (Mike Johnson), Chodi (Kary) Houston, Corey (Shannon) McCarthy, Craig McCarthy, Lynsey Eilers (Matt Nunes), Whitney Eilers (Adam Hakke), Hans Eilers, Jessica Meiers, Mindy (Todd) Wixon, Ashley (Tony) Schneider and Chelsea (Dan) Jamison; 16 great-grandchildren, two sisters, Helen Tatro of White Lake and Lillian Law of Grants Pass, OR, three sisters-in-law, Ruth Neugebauer of Parkston; Rose Neugebauer of Ethan; Carol Neugebauer of Tripp; seven brothers and sisters-in-law, Adeline Puetz of Brookings; Devonia Oster of Mitchell; Bert and Delores Puetz of Marshall, MN; Bernice and Fran Feiner of Ethan and George Puetz of Mitchell.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 2004, five brothers, one grandson and ten brothers and sisters-in-law.

Marjean, Marv, Autumn ,Chad and families. So sorry to see the sadness you are faced with in loosing a wonderful mother & grandmother. Our deepest sympathy to you all. You are so fortunate to have spent the last years living so close to her & being there for her. You will always have those precious memories. Keeping you in our prayers.

So sorry for your loss . Rose was a great lady with everyone . She always found the good in everything . She will be greatly missed .
