Lawrence “Larry” Huber was born March 4, 1923 at Alexandria, SD to Fred and Margaret (Holtzner) Huber. He grew up on the farm and attended country school. In 1940 he graduated from Alexandria High School. He served two years in the US Army spending one year in Japan. He farmed and operated a dairy farm near Alexandria until retiring in 1987 and then he continued to help on the farm until 2006. On January 17, 1949 he married Florentine Wermers. She died on June 22, 1986. On October 30, 1987 he married Katherine Dittman Scott.
He was a member of St. Mary of Mercy Catholic Church in Alexandria, Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Mitchell, the Elks Lodge, the Moose and the American Legion.
He is survived by his wife, Katherine; four children: Lynn Terveen and husband, Dave of Emery, Karen Huber of Alexandria, Rodney Huber and wife, Polly of Fulton, Peggy Kummer and husband, Kurt of Parkston; three step-children: Joella Anderson and husband, Bob of Brookings, Tom Scott and wife Reeny, of Mitchell, Patty Koth and husband, Lance of Mitchell; ten grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, ten step-grandchildren, four step-great-grandchildren, one brother, Robert Huber of Aurora, CO; and two sisters: Helen Wenande of Brookings; Millie Wenande and husband, Jim of Alexandria.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Florentine, three brothers: Edward, Raymond, Donald and one great-grandson, Derrick Degen.
