Obituary

Viola (Pietz) Zobel was born October 29, 1932 in Parkston, SD to Carl and Sophia (Bertsch) Pietz.  She grew up and attended country school near Parkston.  She married her sweetheart, Ervin Zobel on June 29, 1952 in Tripp, SD.  They farmed their entire lives.  They started out by Ethan, SD until 1967, then moved to Missouri until January 1973, when they moved to Minnesota.  In 1998 they retired and returned to South Dakota.  Viola recently moved back to Minnesota in December 2012.

Viola spent much of her life amongst her family.  She raised her children on the farm and soon after her grandchildren got the joy of going to stay on the farm with her.  She loved working outdoors raising her kids, animals, and gardening.  Once she retired she loved to go visit her many siblings, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.  She also spent time at the Kingdom Hall in Mitchell, SD and recently Morris, MN.

Grateful for having shared her life are three sons: Dennis Zobel of Forestburg; Larry Zobel of Alexandria, MN; Richard Zobel of Elk River, MN; one daughter Bonnie (Jon) Isaacson of Rogers, MN; five grandchildren: Adam Zobel, Bradley Zobel, Amy Zobel, Jennifer (Matt) Kruse, and Michelle (Jason) Reiss; five great-grandchildren Kaylee Vanlith, Della Rose Vanlith, Devon Zobel, Amelia Reiss, and Lydia Reiss; a special niece, Carmen (Todd) Preheim; twelve siblings Herbert (Pamela) Pietz, Leona (LeRoy) Baltzer, Violet (Verlyn) Fuerst, Bob (Marlys) Pietz, Elmer (Georgia) Pietz, Vilo (Marlys) Pietz, Verlyn (Camille) Pietz, LaVerna (Darrell) Magstadt, Vernetta (Mel) Smith, Mary (Keith) Thrift, Donald (Lynette) Pietz, and Carol Stoakes.
