My wife Mickie and I were a young married couple teaching for Todd County school District when we met Ken. He was a great guy and a super teacher always willing to help others. I am sorry we did not keep in touch after we left South Dakota. We are truly sorry to hear about his passing. He will be missed.

One of the greatest guys you ever met! It was an honor to have known Ken, to referee many ball games with him, and to be able to call him a friend. I just heard about this 15 minutes ago and I am very sorry I could not be there! Ken and I were able to referee a state basketball tournament together my last year of officiating! I have many great memories with Ken! My heart is heavy today! See you on the other side my friend!

My prayers are with his family. I was friends with Shayne growing up in Gregory and he was my first basketball coach as a kid in elem school. I had a lot of fun with him and he always had me laughing. South Dakota has lost a great basketball mind.
