Laura Isabelle Shearer was born April 27, 1911, to Joseph and Hallie (Basinger) Lackmann in Crofton, NE She lived in Casper, WY, Aten, NE, Scotland, SD, then moved to Fulton, SD where she graduated from High School. On November 19, 1942, she married Sidney Shearer in Reno, NV. She moved to Mitchell where she worked at the Defense Plant while her husband served overseas during World War II. After his return they managed the Lakeview Golf Course for thirty years. She then was a sales person at Dottie’s Fashion Uniforms in Mitchell. She had been a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church
She is survived by one daughter, Dottie Iverson and her husband, Merv of Mitchell; seven grandchildren: Ann Marie Trent and her children, Katie and Jason; Tom Shoemaker and his son, Jerimiah and grandson, Jacob; Glen Shoemaker; Gail Urso and her husband, Brian and their children, Max and Joe; Sid Shoemaker and his wife, Linda and their children: Jessica, Dylan and Chase; Mary Kobernusz and her husband, Bob and their children, Klarissa and Logan; Laura Hair and her husband Reggie, and their children, Alexis and Morgan. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sid and one sister, Nora Tuffs.
