Morna "Mickey" Brown

February 9, 1922 - May 11, 2013

Morna (Mickey) Brown was born February 9, 1922 in Lane, SD to Jim & Clarice (Campbell) Houlihan.  She graduated from Lane High School.  She married Bob Brown on Friday, June 13, 1941 in Salinas, CA.  At the end of WWII they moved to Mitchell.

She is well remembered from their family business, Brown's Studio, and also from Puetz Construction, St. Joseph's Hospital, P.E.O., Antique Club, Red Hat Society, 21st Century Club, Jaycettes, countless Bridge Clubs and Mahjong groups.

Mickey's greatest enjoyment in life was being involved with family and friends in both Mitchell and Mesa, AZ.  She was very proud of her Irish heritage, which led to a lifetime dream of visiting Ireland.

She is survived by her husband Robert, five children: Jim Brown, Plainview, NE; Dick Brown, Grand Rapids, MI; Mari Brown, Tea; Paula (Gary) Schmidt, Sioux Falls;  and Camilla Langenfeld, Parker, CO;  one sister, Katherine (Eldon) Sieveley,  twelve grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

I am sorry to learn about the passing of Mrs. Brown. The loss of a loved one is extremely painful. I'd like to share scripture that may bring comfort and hope to your family. Mark 5:35-43 reads in part...While Jesus was speaking, he overheard men telling an officer of the synagogue that his daughter had died. Upon hearing this, Jesus, Peter, James and John, the brother of James, went alone to the officer's home. When they arrived, Jesus went to the deceased child and told her to get up. Immediately, she got up. You see, Jehovah promises a resurrection of our loved ones. (Acts 24:15) We must have faith in this promise. To help strengthen our faith in His promise, please also read Isaiah 55:11 and Isaiah 25:8.

Bob, Jim, Dick, Mary Beth and family,
I learned from my aunt Ellen Crockett via email about Mickey. It saddens me greatly to learn of Micky's passing. Part of my childhood goes with her. I remember so many happy hours playing over at your house and often staying for supper. If I remember correctly, I frequently invited myself! And when you were the first family in our West 12th neighborhood to get a TV (black & white with nothing on until 4:00 pm but the Indian bulls-eye screensaver ) and you graciously turned it around and positioned it in your living room window facing outward so we neighbors could watch it! Oh my, what great neighbors and what wonderful friends to my parents George and Florence. Bob, you especially are held close in prayer as this union was your life. My the God of All Comfort be your comfort in these days and weeks ahead. My love to each of you, Brown Family!
