Wilmer Edwin Uttecht was born April 16, 1931 in Parkston SD to Waldemer and Helena (Winter) Uttecht. He completed his education attending a country school. He served in the United States Air Force from 1951-1955 at San Angelo, TX as an airplane mechanic. After being honorably discharged, he returned to Tripp to farm. In 1972 he moved to Mitchell and worked for Moorman’s Feed until his retirement. On December 29, 1986 he married Cheryl Krietlow in Mitchell. His first love was his family. His passions were hunting, fishing, music, gardening, animals, camping and a good glass of wine from his own collection. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Moose Lodge, VFW, American Legion and was a member of the Corn Palace Committee for twenty years.
He is survived by his wife, Cheryl, three children: Paula (Cliff) Vanderbush, Rapid City, Brenda (Paul Floren) Uttecht, Sioux Falls, Angela (Jeff) Leonard, Spearfish; one step-daughter, Heather (Robert Black) Carr, Eden Prairie, MN; eleven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers: Ervin, Ruben and Harold Uttecht; and four sisters: Lorraine Fastnacht, Juanita Weisz, Hilda Goldammer and Annetta Fuerst.
