Michael Zobel was born January 4, 1931 at Alexandria, SD to Emil and Christina (Stern) Zobel. He grew up in Alexandria and attended country school. He served in the US Army and was honorably discharged. He returned to Alexandria where he farmed for a few years and then moved to Carthage where he continued to farm until his retirement. He was a member of the Moose, Elks, DAV, and American Legion. He enjoyed hunting, gardening, bingo and driving his car.
He is survived by his children: Mary Ennen and husband, Jim, Minneapolis, MN, Elizabeth Flanagan, Sioux Falls, SD, Michael D. Zobel, Jr. and wife, Kristen, Arlington, SD, Carmen Preheim and husband, Todd, Tea, SD; nine grandchildren: Rachel Gilbert and husband, Collin, North Branch, MN, David Ennen and Sara Ennen, both of Maple Grove, MN; Heather Ochoa and husband, Marco, Mesa, AZ, Ryan Zobel, Matthew Zobel, Nikki Zobel all of Arlington, SD, Ashley Preheim and Daniel Preheim, Tea, SD; one great grandchild, Jack Gilbert, North Branch, MN; and two sisters-in-law, Viola Zobel, Emery, SD and Joyce Zobel, Carthage, SD. He was preceded in death by his parents, two daughters: Rose Marie and Patty Sue; and five brothers Alvin, Emil, Albert, Edward and Ervin.
