Ella Viola Peterson was born July 11, 1920 at Armour SD to Nels and Anna (Wiberg) Nelson. She attended Lisbon 19, Ethan Public and Mitchell Senior High. Ella married Edwin O. Peterson on September 6, 1940. She worked at the Methodist Hospital and Armour’s Creamery in Mitchell. She enjoyed spending time with family and cooking. Ella and Edwin were foster parents and adult foster parents for people with disabilities for thirty years. She was a member of the Resurrection Lutheran Church and was a devote Christian who loved the Lord.
Ella is survived by two daughters: Darlene Peterson and Elaine (Jim) Homolka; three sons: Edwin B (Lorna) Peterson, Delbert (Marie) Peterson and Gerald (Wendy) Peterson all of Mitchell; fourteen grandchildren; twenty-nine great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; three sisters-in-law: Lillian Joachim, Gladys (Jim) Lumb and Valoris Eickhoff; brother-in-law, Wilfred (Carmen) Peterson; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin, her parents, Nels and Anna Nelson; sisters: Elsie Widman, Ethel Hines, Agnes Conzemius and Clara Pommer; brothers: Nels Harry Nelson, Oscar Nelson and Otto Nelson.
