Nathan Christ Vilhauer was born July 19, 1925 at Tyndall to Christian and Magdalena (Bechtold) Vilhauer. On July 28 1946 he married Minnie Marie Batterman at Tripp. They later moved to Parkston and were married sixty-five years. They farmed the family homestead near Parkston, he also worked at the Parkston Produce for thirty-five years and was a truck driver for AMPI out of Freeman until retiring in 1991. Nathan was an avid wood worker, enjoyed making yard ornaments, being with family and going on bus tours.
He is survived by three sons: David Vilhauer and wife, Carol, Mitchell, Duane Vilhauer, Parkston, Dean Vilhauer, Sturgis; six grandchildren: Michelle Vilhauer, Sioux Falls, Jennifer Lees and husband, Steve, Jamestown, PA, Brandon Vilhauer and wife, Kristin, Mitchell, Cody Vilhauer and wife, Angie, Mitchell, Breanna McPherson and husband, Grahm, Sturgis, Tony Tigges, Sioux Falls; eleven great-grandchildren: Erica, Taryn, Dawson, Hunter, Brooke, Tucker, Tanner, Kennedy, Kalista, Paxton and Kale; one great-great-granddaughter, Madisyn; sister, Viola Padgalskas, Viejo, CA, sister-in-law, Marjo Vilhauer, Parkston and daughter-in-law, Candi Vilhauer.
He was preceded in death by his wife; Minnie, May 23, 2012, grandson, Michael Vilhauer and brother, Stanley.
