Obituary

Elanora Theresa Welch was born at rural Ethan, SD on October 26, 1923 to John and Anna (Thuringer) Reinartz. She graduated from Ethan High School and Mitchell Business College. She married Merrill (Dick) Welch in 1948.  They made their home in Watertown, South Dakota for forty years.

Nora’s greatest joy was participating in the lives of her family and friends.  She took particular pleasure in having operated a day care service in Watertown for many years.  The last 15 years of her life were spent investigating family genealogy and sharing a home with her daughter, Vicki, in Mitchell.

She was preceded in death by her husband Dick, parents, and brothers Edward and Wilbert (Bill).

Survivors include her daughter Vicki Welch of Mitchell; five sons, Kerry (Cathy) of Tooele, Utah, Thomas (Nancy Longworth) and Scott (Debra) of Sioux Falls, James (Char) and Barry (Jan) of Moorhead, Minnesota; ten grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; six great grandchildren; brother Milford of Fresno, California; and very special friends Carol, Jamie, Kristi and Seth Torstenson of Watertown.

All the way from Wyoming, we send deepest sympathy and prayers to you and your family. Aunt Elanora was a sweet lady filled with laughter and it was so much fun to visit with her about family history. She will be missed, but cherish the beautiful memories!

We are so sorry for your loss. We had the honor of visiting with your mother about our family history on a couple of occasions at your home, Vicki. She was a very sweet woman who reminded us so much of our mother, Elsie. You and your family are in our thoughts and our prayers.

You will always be in our heart and thoughts, and we have been very blessed to have you in our lives. She was such a loving, caring and understanding grandmother that loving memories from her can hardly be forgotten. Vicki, you are the best and we love you and all of the family so much, thank you all for taking such loving care of grandma.
