Wayne Alfred Moore was born October 17, 1930, at Viv ian, SD, to Lyle and Grace (Dunlap) Moore. He attended rural schools in Lyman County and graduated from Vivian High School in 1949. He farmed for a year after graduation then was drafted into the US Army in 1951. He served overseas during the Korean War and was honorably discharged in 1953. In 1956, he married Nancy Oller at Vivian, SD. They were divorced in 1965. He worked on construction in Wyoming, the Black Hills and the Oahe Dam in Pierre. In 1972, he married Arlene Scott Neugebauer in Rapid City. He was employed by Light Aggregates in Rapid City, and the South Dakota Cement Plant for 17 years until his retirement in 1984. They moved to an acreage near Fulton in 1984 and then moved into Mitchell, in 1994. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, and was a lifetime member of the Rapid City VFW Post 1273.
He is survived by his wife Arlene, five daughters: Connie Smith of Norfolk, VA, and her children, Chad and Kamryn; Colleen Cooper and husband John of Oklahoma City, OK, and their children, Caressa and Nicholas; Cindy Oliver and husband George of Virginia Beach, VA, and their children Monica and Melinda; Cathy Grubb and husband David of Chesapeake, VA, and their children Sarah and Amy; Collette Nordstrom of Skappoose, OR; and her son Nathaniel; one stepson, Thomas Neugebauer and wife Natalie of Pierre, and their children: Lee, Daniel and Ross; ten great grandchildren, two sisters, Wilma Ahlers of Flandreau and LilaMae Christian and husband Harvey of Draper, one brother, Carl Moore and wife Glenna of Murdo, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister Maxine Moore, one brother-in-law Jerry Ahlers, and one son-in-law, Max Nordstrom.
