Marlys Marie Schoenfelder was born May 7, 1938, at Parkston, SD, to Albert and Marie (Bowar) Muntefering. She grew up in the Parkston area and graduated from Parkston High School in 1956. On May 7, 1960, she married Melvin W. Schoenfelder at Dimock, SD. She was employed at Farmers State Bank in Parkston for over forty years until her retirement. She was currently employed at Fulton State Bank in Mitchell. She was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Ethan, where she was church secretary, Eucharistic minister, and a member of the Altar Society. She enjoyed traveling, going to ball games, spending time with her family and the Los Angeles Dodgers.

She is survived by her son, Vilas Schoenfelder and wife, Jane of Mitchell, her daughter, Cindy Kaiser and husband, Chuck of Dell Rapids, six grandchildren, six great grandchildren and one brother, Melvin Muntefering of Parkston.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin, September 1, 1985, her parents and one sister-in-law, Ronnie Muntefering.
