Alta Grace Kelly was born October 22, 1919, in Mitchell, SD, to Ethel (Morehead) and Fred Wallis. She attended and graduated from Mitchell Public Schools.
On December 29, 1937, Grace married Francis Moran Kelly at the Cathedral of St. Paul in St. Paul, MN. Francis and Grace celebrated their 73rd wedding anniversary before he passed away in 2011.
In 1950, Francis and Grace established the Farmer’s Produce in Mitchell, SD. They both operated this business until their retirement.
Grace was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, Altar Society, and The Catholic Daughters of America. She enjoyed playing bridge until her eyesight deteriorated in the last few years.
Grace is survived by two brothers, Jack Wallis and wife, Shirley, and Charles Wallis, a sister-in-law, Aurelia Chandonais (wife of William), seven nieces: Janice (Wallis) Steckline and husband, Jack, Patricia (Wallis) Olenick, and husband, Leon, Susan (Wallis) Bolyard and husband, Rick, Laura (Wallis) Tomter and husband, Dave, Mary Kay (Zard) Jorgensen, Margaret Anne Zard, Patty (Zard) VerSteeg and husband, Dave, and four nephews: Philip Wallis and wife, Cindy, Gary Wallis, Mark Wallis and wife, Kay, Scott Wallis and wife, Chris.
Preceding Grace in death were her parents, her step-mother, Annis Fulwider, two brothers, William J. Wallis, Harold J. Wallis, sisters-in-law, Betty Wallis (wife of Harold), Patricia Wallis (wife of Charles), Margaret K. Zard (Francis’ sister), and brother-in-law, James Zard (Margaret’s husband).
