Fredrick “Fredie” Loes was born October 20, 1913 the third child of Anthony and Minni (Wagner) Loes on the family farm southeast of Emery, SD. He attended St. Martin’s Catholic School in Emery and then began farming with his parents. He resided and farmed on the family farm his entire life. On October 24, 1949 he married Doris Endres. She died July 13, 1955. He married Imelda Meyers November 12, 1960. He was a member of St. Martin Catholic Church. Fredie enjoyed farming with his red machinery and red cattle until he retired in 2006 at the age of 92. He enjoyed working in his organized shop, brewing homemade beer, playing cards and visiting with family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Imelda, who resides at Edgewood Vista in Sioux Falls, SD; two sisters, Calista DiGiulian of Falls Church, VA; Teresa Dillinger of Golden, CO; one sister-in-law, Mary Meyers of Mitchell, SD and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Doris, one brother, Francis and three sisters, Dorothy Leitheiser, Rose Wood and Mary Loes.
