Vernon G. Sougstad was born February 13, 1929 in Mitchell, SD to George and Edna (Krouse) Sougstad. While growing up he attended Plano and Grant Country Schools.

He worked on the family farmed until 1951. He then enlisted in the US Army and was stationed in Berlin, Germany.

After returning to Mitchell he was employed as a dispatcher and driver for the Red Top, Yellow Cab and A-1 Taxi Companies.  He also drove automobiles for Tom Clark Auto for many years.

He was a member of the Mitchell Wesleyan Church.

He is survived by one sister, Maxine Marshall of Hawaii.  He was preceded in death by his brother, Howard and sister, Iona Ratcliff.

VERNON WAS VERY NICE MAN. HE WOULD ALWAYS STOP IN TO VISIT WHEN WE HAD OUR BUSSINESS. WE ALWAYS SAW HIM AT POST OFFICE IN MORNING .REST IN PEACE VERNON.
