Jean Caroline Nightingale, 80, of Casper WY, former longtime resident of Gillette WY, left her “Footprints in the Sand” and walked on with Jesus on March 4, 2012. Jean was born in White Lake SD on September 21, 1931 to the late Robert and Lela (Stone) Nightingale. Jean received her education at Patton School and graduated from White Lake High School in 1949.
She married the late Russell Cudmore Sr in1949; together they were blessed with four children: Allen “Jerry” Lee Cudmore, Ronald Duane Cudmore, Darlene Joy Sperling and James Russell Cudmore.
In 1975 Jean moved to Gillette WY and made her home there until 2010 when she moved to Casper WY. Jean enjoyed working as a bartender and waitress for several years. Jean became an active member of AA, and truly enjoyed sponsoring others in their AA journey. Jean would have celebrated thirty-one years of sobriety on May 11 this year.
Jean enjoyed sewing and quilting for her family. She also enjoyed preparing meals and baking. She truly loved sharing her famous fudge and homemade bread with others. Another thing Jean really enjoyed was planting the flowerpots for her patio. She took great pride in her family and enjoyed every single moment they shared together.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Lela Nightingale of White Lake SD, her two brothers: Lyle and Harold Nightingale; two sisters: Pearl (Harold) Bowers and Ruby (Andy) Vissia and two sons: Allen “Jerry” (Wendie) Cudmore and James “Jim” Cudmore. She is survived by her son, Ronald Cudmore, of Casper WY and her daughter, Darlene (Bob) Sperling of Rapid City SD; ten grandchildren: Jodi, Cindy, Carrie, Brenda, Heidi, Neil, Mike, Sondrae, Amy and Ashley; twenty great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews, as well as lifelong friends.
