Obituary

Ellen Marie Vasek was born September 9, 1932 at Chamberlain, SD, to Frank and Marie (Bravek) Koss. She attended rural school at Kimball and graduated from Kimball High School in 1950. She was employed for several years at the Red Owl Grocery Store and McPhie Drug Store in Kimball. On February 1, 1955, she married Joseph J. Vasek at Kimball. They farmed and ranched in Geddes for three years then moved east of Kimball where they farmed and ranched and were employed at the Paragon Ball Room for ten years. They retired and moved to Mitchell in 1995. She was a member of St. Margaret’s Catholic Church in Kimball.

She is survived by her husband Joe; brother-in-law, John Vasek and wife, Linda of Geddes, SD; one nephew, Arlo McKim and wife Nancy of Crystal, MN, and two nieces, Lois Nash and husband Jerry of Anoka, MN, and Janis Taragos and husband Daniel of Eden Prairie, MN, and a number of other nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Lester Koss and three sisters: Agnes Nichols; Eva Piskule and Mildred McKim.

 

In lieu of flowers, a Memorial Fund has been established to the

Holy Trinity Church of Bendon at Kimball, which Ellen’s father helped build.

Dear Joe,
We offer our sincere condolences as you mourn Ellen's death. I just happened to read it in the paper. When mom or dad was in the hospital it seemed you were the one who was sick not Ellen.
