Edna Iola Tiede was born November 16, 1924 south of Mount Vernon the daughter of Carl and Martha (Larsch) Moke. Edna grew up on the family farm and attended country school through the 6th grade and finished 7th and 8th grade after moving to Mitchell.
She married Harold Tiede, October 3, 1943 at Saint John Lutheran Church in rural Dimock. They farmed in the Parkston, Mount Vernon and Mitchell area for fifteen years. She then went to work for the Westside Café and Motel, the Mitchell middle and high school cafeterias and many years in Randall’s Deli.
Survivors include: her daughter, Sharon and husband, Don Radeke, Dumfries, VA; her daughter-in-law, Sharon Tiede, Sioux Falls, SD; six grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and two sisters-in-law: Florence Moke and Ida Carpenter both of Mitchell.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold, their son, Arnold, two brothers: William and Walter and two sisters: Salma and Mathilda.
