Obituary

Candice “Candy” Marie Walti was born in Slayton, MN on February 26, 1949 to Delmond and Lorraine (Johlfs) Farrell. Her family moved to White Lake, SD in 1951 and started farming north of White Lake. She graduated from White Lake High School in 1967 and from South Dakota State University in 1971 with a B.A. in Journalism.

She traveled to upstate New York, where she met her husband, Gustave Walti. They moved back to White Lake in 1974, where they were married on Sept. 14. They had two children, James and Erin.

Her career passions were cooking and publishing. From 1974 to 1984, she and Gus operated the Paragon, where they served the famous Paragon Pizza. In 2001, she and Gus purchased the Aurora County Standard and Stickney Argus newspapers, and became a co-owner of the Wagner Post and Lake Andes Wave in 2011.

She believed in the power of community service, and was extremely active in White Lake. Candy was a 20-year member of the White Lake School Board, a lifetime member of Trinity Lutheran Church and Ruth Circle. She was also a member of White Lake’s Commercial Club and Economic Development Board. Candy also researched and authored the White Lake Centennial book in 1982.

She is survived by her husband, Gus; her children, Kim (John) Ehlers, Hills, MN; James (Kristin) Walti, Pierre; and Erin Walti, White Lake; her sister, Janice (Larry) Fredericksen, Mitchell; her brother, Robert (Angelita) Farrell, Mitchell; eight grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

I'm speechless. This can be a supreb blog and very attractive too. Nice work! That's now not actually a lot coming from an newbie publisher like me, however it's all I may just say after diving into your posts. Nice grammar and vocabulary. Not like other blogs. You actually recognise what you?re talking about too. Such a lot that you made me want to discover more. Your blog has develop into a stepping stone for me, my friend.

I am sorry to hear about the death of your mom.I always remember going to the Paragon to eat their pizza as I remember it was really good.I am sorry for your loss.

Gus, Kim & family, she was loved to the end by her family. Your support helped her to die with peace!!! I remember her as a child when we used to go to the Paragon for her famous pizza! She was a very talented person!!
