Obituary

Jeanne Marie (Graham) Knust was born June 22, 1930 at Creighton, SD to Beven Harvey Graham and Laura Ann (Hoffman) Graham and grew up near Wall before moving to Custer where she attended and graduated from Custer High School.

On July 8, 1951, she married Maynard (Joe) Knust at Pipestone, MN. For numerous years they resided in Hot Springs, SD, where she was a stay at home Mom and worked various part­- time jobs. In 1972, they moved to Alpena, SD where they owned and operated J & J Locker and Market. They, briefly, lived in Cherokee, IA before moving to Emery, SD in 1980, where she worked as a waitress until retiring in 1986, at which time they moved to Mitchell. On February, 15, 2007 her husband of 55 years, passed away. In 2009, she moved to Custer and lived with her daughter Sandra and son-in-law Brian until February 2011 when she moved into the care center.

Jeanne was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Mitchell. She enjoyed painting, bowling, playing bingo and cards, and hanging out with friends at the Mitchell Senior Center. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Survivors include her daughter Sandra Madetzke and husband Brian of Custer, son Michael Knust and wife ReAnn of White, four grandchildren Barry (Amy) Madetzke, Justin Madetzke, Teresa (Jason) Landmark, Dan (Kelsey) Knust, five great grandchildren, twin sister Joanne Allen of Alabama and brother David of Spring Valley, CA. She was preceded in death by her husband Maynard, parents, her brother Harvey, and her sister Marjorie.

i was sorry to here about jeanne, i remember she was always joking and happy to be around. my family will surely miss her. the last time i saw her she took us all out for lunch at the red lion hotel in winnemucca and we had a gooid time.

Sorry to hear of Jean's passing..lots and lots of memories of the old days in Hot Springs and taking mom to visit Jean and Joe in Mitchell...She will be missed!

Was so sorry to hear about the passing of your mom. I remember your folks being here and visited with them at other places also. Know she will be misssed by all.
