Obituary

John Buckles Herron was born February 4, 1925 at Armour to John and Sara (Hatfield) Herron. He grew up and attended school at Alexandria. He served in the US Army during WWII where he received three Bronze Stars and the Purple Heart. On July 4, 1945 he married Emma Kowalke. They resided in Mitchell where John was employed by the City of Mitchell, where he worked in the Parks Department and was the cemetery sexton for many years. He was a member of First Lutheran Church, the VFW, DAV and the Moose Lodge.

He is survived by his wife, Emma, three daughters: Barbara (Don) Merritt, Lexington, NC; Linda (Dennis) Hargan, Mitchell; Dawn (Carey) Clark, Mt. Vernon; seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and one sister, Margie North of Huron.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two infant daughters, five brothers and six sisters.

My condolences go out to the immediate family. Great Uncle John was a great man. I remember him from all the family reunions. He will be missed.

We are so sorry for your loss. Uncle John was a very special man, everytime we would walk in the same room with him, his eyes would light up, especially seeing Noah with me. He will be missed dearly. I hope he is one of the angels that greet me when my time comes.

So very sorry for your loss. John always had a freindly smile and a kind word to say to all. Will miss John at our breakfasts at the Moose. Will always remember they cards being played beforer bingo at the Moose, all the good times that we had there. We need to remember that John is now looking down on us. Take care and God Bless.

I will always remember Uncle John lighting off fireworks at the Bemis farm. We had alot of great times at the farm, eating, playing cards, telling jokes, being together for lots of Christmas's. Uncle John will be missed!
