Vernon Lloyd Storla was born October 27, 1915, in Linn Grove, Iowa, to Charles and Rosie (Anderson) Storla. He grew up and attended schools in South Dakota. He was an airline pilot with United Airlines for many years and flew 747’s until his retirement in 1976. He was a resident of Denver, then moved to the Mitchell area after his retirement and farmed for a number of years. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Mitchell.
Vernon is survived by two grandchildren, Michelle and Nicholas Bailey of Colorado, a sister, Maxine Musick of Mitchell, several nieces and nephews and friend, Barb Horton of Sioux Falls. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Susan Bailey, two sisters, Carmen Anderson and LuVerne Kuether, two brothers, Lyle and Wayne Storla and special friend, Wilma Schlimgen.
