Darleen Grace Meade was born June 30, 1931, to Clarence and Grace (Allen) Morrison. She grew up and attended school in Plankinton and graduated from Plankinton High School. On September 9, 1952, she married Robert Meade at Plankinton. They lived in Plankinton and Castlewood, SD. In 1965, they moved to Santa Maria, California, where she was a switchboard operator for Northwestern Bell. They returned to Mitchell in 1975. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and the Women of the Moose.
She is survived by two daughters: Rita Sanderson of Mitchell, Robin Haney and husband, Lyle of Burke; two grandchildren: Torrey Larson and special friend, Lindsay and her son, Andrew of Mount Vernon, Trevor Larson and wife, Heather, of Sioux Falls; two great-grandchildren, Allura Larson of Mount Vernon, Waylon Larson of Sioux Falls and two sisters-in-law, Gerri Johnson of Mitchell and Mary Houska of Cathedral City, CA.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 2005, one grandson, one brother, Harold Morrison and her parents.
