Wanda Lucille Schaefer was born November 25, 1930 in Lockney, TX to Lawrence and Evelena (Jones) Wiley. She grew up and graduated from high school in Levelland, TX. On April 4, 1958 she married Francis Schaefer at the home of her parents. She worked as a nurse’s aide at the Levelland Hospital and then after moving to Mitchell in May 1961 she continued her work at the St. Joseph and Methodist Hospitals. She was known for her compassion and love toward her patients. She was a Girl Scout Leader for many years and played volleyball in the Methodist Hospital League. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints for many years, where she held various leadership callings within the organizations of the church. After retirement in 1988, she dedicated her time and love to spoiling her grandchildren. Wanda was an avid crafter and enjoyed ceramics.
She is survived by her husband, Francis; two daughters: Vicky L. Schaefer of Mitchell and Dee Ann Myrabo and husband, Randy of Trenton, MI; nine grandchildren: Carrie Green and husband, Eric, Lars Myrabo, Ayla Briggs, Isaac Myrabo, Rebecca Myrabo, Nathan Pruett, Hannah Myrabo, Elizabeth Myrabo and Abigail Myrabo; two sisters: Bobbi Arnwine and Velma Latham of Levelland, TX; two brothers: Lawrence Wiley and wife, Marilyn of Ft. Worth, TX and Jerry Wiley of Levelland, TX and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers-in-law, James Latham and Bud Arnwine.
