Clara Minna Gertrude Peters was born on June 13, 1919 to John and Minna (Raabe) Peters at rural Delmont. She married Gerhardt Kirchhevel on January 3, 1942 at Delmont. Gerhardt went to the service shortly after they were married. When he returned they farmed for a short time, then moved to Armour where they operated a dairy for several years. They then farmed west of Armour until 1969 when they moved to Platte. While in Platte Clara was a child care provider. When her husband died in 1974 she moved to Mitchell. Clara worked as a motel house keeper at the Thunderbird Lodge until retirement.
On June 16, 1984 she married Herbert Rath in Arvada, CO. He died March 1, 1992.
She is survived by her children: Janet and her husband, Wayne Klinger of Mitchell, Paul and wife, Nancy Kirchhevel of Arvada Colorado, Judy Niewedde of Irvine, CA and Melinda and husband, John Jerke of Mitchell; seven grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and four step-children.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Gerhardt, second husband, Herbert, brothers and sisters and nieces and nephews.
