Francis Moran Kelly was born April 7, 1916, in Mitchell, SD, to Catherine (Moran) and Anthony Kelly.  He attended Notre Dame Academy and graduated from Mitchell Senior High School.

On Dec. 29, 1937, Francis married Alta Grace Wallis at the Cathedral of St. Paul in St. Paul, MN.  This past December, Francis and Grace celebrated their 73^rd wedding anniversary.

After working for the Equity Creamery in Mitchell, he attended SDSU in Brookings, SD, completing the dairy certification program.  He then joined Armour Creamery, working in Mitchell and Salem, SD, and Kansas.  In 1950, Francis established the Farmer’s Produce in Mitchell, SD.  He and his wife, Grace, operated this business until his retirement.

Francis was a life-long member of Holy Family Catholic Church.

Francis is survived by his wife, Grace, his sister, Margaret K. Zard, his brothers-in-law, Jack Wallis and wife, Shirley, and Charles Wallis, a sister-in-law, Aurelia Chandonais (wife of William), 7 nieces: Mary Kay (Zard) Jorgensen, Margaret Anne Zard, Patty (Zard) VerSteeg and husband, Dave, Janice (Wallis) Steckline and husband, Jack, Patricia (Wallis) Olenick, and husband, Leon, Susan (Wallis) Bolyard and husband, Rick, Laura (Wallis) Tomter and husband, Dave,  and 4 nephews: Philip Wallis and wife, Cindy, Gary Wallis, Mark Wallis and wife, Kay, Scott Wallis and wife, Chris.

Preceding Francis in death were his parents, and in childhood, a sister, Mary Catherine, and two brothers, William and Joseph.  Also, brothers-in-law, James W. Zard, William J. Wallis, Harold J. Wallis, and sisters-in-law, Betty Wallis (wife of Harold) and Patricia Wallis (wife of Charles).
