Sadie Beatrice Judstra was born February 7, 1920, at Denver, CO, to Gruelt and Sadie (Venema) Baker. She grew up and attended school at Denver. On July 6, 1939, she married George Judstra at Denver. They moved to South Dakota in 1942, and farmed at Corsica for two years, then north of Alexandria for twenty years. She attended Stewart School of Hairstyling in Aberdeen, and then lived in Hartford for two years where she operated Sadie’s Beauty Shop. In 1965, she and her husband became house parents at Abbott House in Mitchell. She is survived by four children: Sadie Kortemeyer and husband Bill of Canton; Georgia Brenden and husband Larry of Austin, MN; Gladys Hall and husband Jerry of Sioux Falls; Gertrude Judstra of Canton; one daughter-in-law, Joan Judstra of Wessington Springs; nine grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband George in 2000, a son Albert Judstra, a daughter-in-law, Mary Lou Judstra, and six brothers and sisters.

There are many reasons I would be angiast licensing bloggers. Unfortunately, your argument- that Philadelphia's law requiring for profit bloggers to acquire a license is a tax on free speech doesn't carry the day. First of all, under your stated rationale the Federal Government is already taxing free speech since any income derived from any venture is considered income for tax purposes. In effect, Freedom of Speech is the freedom to say what you want not the freedom to say what you want for free if you are making a profit off of it. Secondly, even though your product is thoughts and ideas, I don't see how you can distinguish your blog which you freely admit you are attempting to commercialize so that you can spend more time on it from any other commercial business that is required to pay fees regardless of whether or not they make income.Your column touches on one of my key frustrations with society today. Society very rarely recognizes the positive cultural value of businesses. I love your blog. Your blog would be better if you could spend more time on it. The only way to spend more time on it is to make money off of it. In this way you are not unique from most small business people who seek to make the world a better place by engaging in a self-sustaining activity. The real issue here is Government's insatiable desire to tax to justify its spending. I fear your post will have the unfortunate effect of giving officials a new target to tax.Keep up the good work!

Thanks to all friends of Grandma Sadie and our family. She's with loved ones now in the next life and that's all we could want.

Each of you has my deepest sympathy. Very sorry to hear this. Visiting the farm during my junior high years are some of the happiest memories of that time.

Both Sadie and George were wonderful friends to my parents, Neal and Wilma. And I remember most warmly our many family get-togethers while we lived in Mitchell.

I remember visiting with Sadie sometimes, before church would start on Sunday mornings. She was always a friendly, kindly person.

We have fond memories of seeing Aunt Sadie at the Colorado family reunions and later visits in Mitchell and Canton.
