Mildred Arvilla Emmett was born March 8, 1920 at the farm home of her parents, William and Cora (Malcom) Songer east of Artesian, SD.  She grew up and attended country schools near Carthage and Fedora and attended Fedora High School. In 1937 she moved to Mitchell and on September 4, 1938 she married Walton Emmett.  They moved to Iowa in 1940 and in November 1957 moved to Artesian.  She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Artesian where was secretary of the church board for twenty-five years and held various offices of the Methodist Church for many years.  She was the finance officer for Artesian for twelve years, secretary of the Mount Pleasant Cemetery Association for twenty years and a member of the O.D.O. (our day off) Club for thirty-five years.

She is survived by her son, Ronald Emmett and wife, Mona of Mitchell; four grandchildren: Ronald Leslie Emmett of Lincoln, NE, Jared Lee Emmett and wife, Pam of Parker, Lisa Marie Kunkel and husband, Dustin of Mitchell, Michele Ann Podhradsky and husband, Matt of Mitchell and eleven great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 1994, four brothers, two sisters and a great-grandson, Houston Kunkel.

I wish I could of gotten to know you. I just found out that your great great aunt. And my birthday is a day before yours. Wish i could of gotten to know you better, God Bless You, And family.
