Elroy D. Kelly was born July 20, 1933, in Hanson County, SD, to Gilmore and Hattie (Radensleben) Kelly. He attended the Plano School and graduated from Plano High School in 1951. On February 14, 1953, he married Mary Lou Wertz in Mitchell. They moved onto the family farm near Plano, where he worked hand and hand with his new wife and parents. Through the years he worked on the farm, drove school bus, did mechanical work and hauled gravel for many years. He enjoyed camping with his friends in the Good Sam Camping Club, country living and maintaining his acreage. He was a member of the First Lutheran Church, the Corn Palace Good Sam’s Camping Club and the NRA.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Lou; six children: Kevin Kelly and wife, Patty of Ethan, Bruce Kelly of Alexandria, Karen Peschong and husband, Duane of Strandburg, Brian Kelly and wife, Cindy of Mitchell, Bonnie Abbott and husband, Tim of Mitchell, Barb Krietlow and husband, Val of Mitchell; twenty-two grandchildren; twenty four great-grandchildren, eleven step-grandchildren, and seven step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Wilbur Kelly, twin infant sons, Dennis and Doyle Kelly, one granddaughter, Teresa Mentele, and a daughter-in-law, Darlene Kelly.

I am so sorry to hear about Elroy. His smile will be greatly missed by the Good Sams camping group. Sorry I could not make it to the funeral. Had to work. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

It is with great sadness that we hear of Elroys passing. Your family has a tough time ahead and will need faith and strength over the next few days and on into the future but there will be a future, Your in thoughts and prayers.
