Connie Jean Somerville was born February 8, 1950, to Wallace and Lillian (Wieczorek) Schrank at Parkston, SD. She grew up and attended schools at Parkston. On February 8, 1969, she married Thomas Heisinger. She moved to Mitchell, where she was employed for a number of years. On June 23, 1979, she married Robert Somerville in Mitchell. At the time of her death, she was a student at Kilian Community College and had only two classes left for her associate degree in Social Work/Hospice. She was a member of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, was designated an Honorary Social Worker by the National Association of Social Workers of South Dakota and was the Asera Care Hospice 2010 Volunteer of the Year.
Survivors include three sons: Greg Heisinger and wife, Amy of Sioux Falls, Steve Somerville and wife, Meagan and Tom Somerville of Mitchell; seven grandchildren: Jonah, Lillee and Aiden Heisinger of Sioux Falls, Walker and Brie Somerville of Mitchell, Maryn Somerville of Alexandria and Alex Peck of Sioux City, IA; two sisters, Vicky Williams of Rapid City; Kathy Frank and husband, Steve of Mitchell; one brother-in-law, Jim Somerville and wife, Linda of Dubuque, IA; one sister-in-law, Jan Edwards and husband, Roger of Haysville, NC, and a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob, May 2, 2008 and her parents, Wallace and Lillian Schrank.
