Obituary

Lillian Imo Brooks was born May 26, 1921 at Lake Andes, SD, to Rueben and Ada (Mansbridge) Jones. She grew up and attended schools in Lake Andes and graduated from Lake Andes High School in 1939. On September 11, 1943, she married Darald Brooks at Lake Andes. In 1955 they moved to Mount Vernon then to Letcher in 1961. She had been a resident of Mitchell since 1988. She was a member of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Lake Andes, a member of St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in Mitchell, Eastern Star and the Extension Club.

 

Survivors include two children, Jean Brooks of Mitchell; David Brooks and wife Penny of Letcher; 8 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; one brother-in-law, Clifford Horner of Wagner; 2 sisters-in-law, Frances Jones of Lake Andes and Cathryn Burrell of Libby, MT. She was preceded in death by her husband Darald in 1986, 2 brothers, Albert and Walter Jones, and 3 sisters: Gladys Jones, Ellen Hibbard and Virginia LaBarge.

Dear Jean and David,
I spent many good times with your mother when I played the organ and she sang in the choir at St. Mary's. I was sorry to hear of her passing. She was always one of the most cheerful people I knew. My prayers are with you.
