Jane Ellen Bender was born June 28, 1937, at Mitchell, to Clarence and Genevieve (Volz) Rehorst. She attended St. Peter’s Catholic Grade School and graduated from Farmer High School in 1955. In 1958, she became a registered X-Ray Technician and was employed at St. Joseph Hospital and Methodist Hospital in Mitchell.  

On November 26, 1959, she married Lloyd Bender at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Farmer and moved to Fulton. She was a life time member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church where she was a Eucharistic Minister, choir member, taught C.C.D and was a L.A.S member. She enjoyed fishing with her husband, Lloyd, spending time with her grandkids, music, feeding her birds, and shooting fireworks on the fourth of July.

She is survived by her husband, Lloyd; one son, Robert Bender of Fulton; three daughters: Christie Ellison and husband, Jeff of Sioux Falls, Betsy Tobin and husband, Matt of Fulton, Barbara Janssen and husband, Jay of St. Bonifacius, MN; nine grandchildren; two brothers, Thomas Rehorst and wife, Verla of Colorado Springs, CO, Donald Rehorst and wife, Mary of Alexandria, SD; two sisters, Lorna Martin of Ocean Springs, MS, Mary Rehorst of Omaha, NE; and one sister-in-law, Sharon Rehorst of Mitchell.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Paul Rehorst, one granddaughter, Samantha Bender, and one daughter-in-law, Susie Bender.

Dear Lloyd: I am so sorry to hear of the loss of Jane. I am in shock! I know she will be missed, not only by you and your family, but by your friends and neighbors. I remember her as being a joyful and giving person. My sympathies. Mavis

So very sorry to hear about Jane. She will be greatly missed. I have very fond memories of her in the Church Community and during my many years in CCD in Farmer.

We just learned of your loss of Jane, Lloyd. It has been a long time since we last saw you guys. Janie was a kind and caring person. We had lots of laughs living together through all of our xray training. Lloyd, you and your family will be remembered in our prayers. God be with all of you.
