Obituary

Lawrence John Feterl was born October 20, 1917 at Salem, SD to Henry and Lena (Leitheiser) Feterl. He attended St. Mary’s Catholic School in Salem. He served in the US Army in the European Theatre during World War II. He was awarded the Purple Heart, Bronze Star and Oak Leaf Cluster.  On June 18, 1946, he married Anastasia Weber at Bridgewater. They moved to Mitchell where he was employed at the Farmers Produce for many years until his retirement.  Following his retirement, he drove a Star Route for the Mitchell Post Office.  He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, where he ushered for many years, Knights of Columbus, DAV, American Legion and the Catholic Order of Foresters.

 

He is survived by his wife Anastasia, two daughters, Pat Erpenbach of Sioux Falls, Carol Berg of Sioux Falls, five grand daughters, two great grand daughters, two sisters, Mary Ann Huls and husband Al of Salem, Rose Koch and husband Joe of Salem and one brother, Joe Feterl of Salem. He was preceded in death by one son Larry Feterl in 1987, three sisters, Dorothy Stiefvater, Mildred Gruber, an infant sister and three brothers: Ralph, Raymond and Martin Feterl.
