Francis Bernard Heisinger was born October 28, 1926, in Hutchinson County, near Dimock to Titus and Frances (Kurtenbach) Heisinger. He grew up and attended school at Parkston. He joined the US Army and served in Europe during World War II, then served again during the Korean Conflict. On February 6, 1950, he married Margaret Hayen at Parkston. Following his discharge from the service, he lived in Sioux Falls, and then was transferred to the Minneapolis area. He was employed at Dart Industries for thirty years, and at the time of his retirement was a traffic and distribution manager. After his retirement he returned to Sioux Falls, where he was a volunteer for numerous organizations including McKennan Hospital, Shiine volunteer and also received the Red Cross Volunteer of the year award. He was a member of St. Lambert’s Catholic Church in Sioux Falls. His wife Margaret preceded him in death July 6, 1993. On July 10, 1998, he married Olga (Semmler) Hayen at Mitchell. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Mitchell.
He is survived by his wife, Olga; two children: Glenn Heisinger and wife, Sheryl of Blaine, MN, Barbara Ann Semmler and husband, Dean of Sioux Falls, SD; five step children: Charlene Arbach and husband, Chuck of Las Vegas, NV, Paul Hayen and wife, Cheri of Manhattan, KS, Stuart Hayen and wife, Myrna of Mitchell, SD; Peggy Weber and husband Lyle, of Alexandria, SD, Tim Hayen and wife, Vicki of Bemidji, MN; four sisters: Helen Jane Kennedy and husband, Robert of Sioux Falls, SD, Joan Christensen and husband, Jim of Glendive, MT, Dorothy Beaudette of Rapid City, SD, Paulette Hinds and husband, Derald of Phoenix, AZ; four grandchildren; five great grandchildren; eighteen step grandchildren and twelve step great grandchildren. In addition to his first wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Louis Heisinger and one sister, Mary Pfeiffer.
