John Herman Deppe was born December 27, 1951 at West Point, NE to Herman and Elizabeth (Kaup) Deppe. He graduated from West Point High School in 1970 and then served for three years in the US Army during the Vietnam War. He attended the University of Nebraska in Lincoln earning a degree in Wildlife, Fisheries and Range Land Management. He was employed as a resource coordinator for the Lower James Resources Conservation Ag Department in Mitchell. On December 9, 1982 he married Nancy Husman at Sturgis, SD.
John was a hard-working, family-oriented man who always put others before himself. Although he left us with an ache in our hearts, John instilled his values, wisdom and humor in each of his children. John loved watching all of his kids play sports; and even though he may not be watching from the stands, we are certain he will always be cheering from above.
Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Nancy, ten children: Nathan (Lisa) Hardison of Sioux Falls, Aaron Hardison of Sioux Falls, Jonathan (Amy) Deppe of Cedar Rapids, IA, Brandon Deppe of Mitchell, Brittany (Dustin) Schley of Stratford, Kristian Deppe and fiancé, Michael Bourne of Rushville, NE, Cameron Deppe, Sydney Deppe, Morgan Deppe, and Adrian Deppe all of Alexandria, six grandchildren, Will, Chynna, Aysia, Davyd, Jasmyne and a grandchild due in July; five sisters: Elvera Scheppers of Platteville, WI, Margaret (Tom) Dermody of Indianapolis, IN, Mildred (Ed) Jankowski of Omaha, NE, Dorothy (Don) Lawse of Mason City, IA and Mary Deppe of Oak Creek, CO, one brother, Walter (Judy) Deppe of Albermarle, NC, brother-in-law, Ken Mazur of Grable, WY and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Richard, his sister, Anne Mazur and brother-in-law, Gerald Scheppers.
