Lydia Wilhelmina Geidel was born September 6, 1923, at Armour, SD, to George and Lydia (Drefs) Fink. She attended school at Armour and was baptized and confirmed at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, rural Armour. On September 25, 1945, she married Gilbert John Geidel at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church. They farmed near Dimock until 1968, when they moved to Delmont. They operated the Delmont Lumber Yard until their retirement in 1981, and then lived in Texas and South Dakota. She had been a resident of Mitchell since 1991. She was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Delmont, Immanuel Lutheran Church at Dimock and the Zion Lutheran Church in Mitchell. She enjoyed music, gardening, quilting, crocheting, needlework and playing cards. She was the prayer warrior for her family and friends.
She is survived by six children: George Geidel and wife Lianne of Rapid City, SD; Leonard Geidel and wife Barb of Rapid City, SD; Mel Geidel and wife Bobbi of Piedmont, SD; Dorothy Deinert and husband Wayne of Mount Vernon, SD; Linda Geidel of Mitchell, SD; Kathy Jorgenson of Loveland, CO; twelve grandchildren; twenty-three great-grandchildren, one brother, Richard Fink of Armour, SD; five sisters-in-law: Nelda Neugebauer, Irma Geidel, Margaret Scheetz, Adeline Geidel, Dorthea Geidel, four brothers-in-law, Donald Geidel and wife Gladys, Alvin Geidel, Harvey Geidel, Marvin Hoffman and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Gilbert in 1989, one son, Kenneth Geidel, three sisters: Irma Blume, Clara Fink and Marie Knudson, one brother, Arnold Fink, and her parents.
