Duane Joseph Herll was born on August 8, 1935 at Epiphany, SD to Peter and Margaret Quinn Herll.  He attended Epiphany and Burbank grade schools and graduated from Fedora High School in 1953.  He farmed for several years with his father and brother, Dick.

On June 12, 1957 he married Roberta Mette at the Artesian Catholic Church.  They resided in Roswell before moving to Mitchell where they owned and operated Havens & Burr 66 Service Station for forty-six years.  He was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church where he was an usher and a lay minister and was a member of the Knights of Columbus.

He is survived by his wife, Roberta; five children, Marty Herll and wife, Mary of Viborg, Tamera Anderson of Sioux Falls, Shelly Ziebell and husband, Curt of Sioux Falls, Laurie Konrad and husband, Paul of Estelline and Tim Herll and wife, Dixie of Mitchell; twelve grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and a sister-in-law, Gertrude Herll of Minneapolis, MN.  He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers:  Arthur, Dick and wife, Laurine, an infant brother, Marvin and an infant son, Joseph.

 

Memorials are preferred to the Heart and Sole Cancer Walk.
