Beverly J. Gates was born November 23, 1922 at Chamberlain, SD to William and Ella (Keresting) Gates. She grew up in the Stickney and Mount Vernon area and attended school in Mount Vernon. She did housekeeping for the Flamingo Motel and Dakota Wesleyan University in Mitchell for many years. In December 1999 she moved to Firesteel Healthcare Center. She was an avid quilter, enjoyed reading and watching TV. She is survived by sisters-in-law and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and four brothers: Eugene, Clifford, Orval and Duane.
