Neva La Due Lienemann was born November 5, 1912 in Hanson County, south of Alexandria, SD to L.G. and Mary (Bryant) LaDue. She was baptized and at the age of fourteen joined the United Methodist Church. The family moved to Curran, Michigan for five years. In 1922 she moved with her family to her grandparent’s homestead farm at Alexandria, SD. She graduated from Alexandria High School in 1930. Neva attended the Pipestone Technical School in Pipestone, MN, where she received a certificate as a seamstress. Neva started her own millinery and dress business in 1952, specializing in bridal apparel.
Neva married George C. Lienemann on May 26, 1932 at the Zion Lutheran Parsonage in Mitchell, SD. They moved northeast of Fulton, SD in 1932. In 1944, they moved to a farm a half-mile from Fulton, SD and in 1976 they moved to Mitchell, SD.
Neva was a member of the United Methodist Church in Fulton and later in Mitchell. She was an active member of the United Methodist Women’s Society, attending four National United Methodist Women’s Assemblies. Neva was a member of the Fairview Community Club at Fulton and was a member and past president of the Hanson County Extension Club, the YWCA, and the Fulton PTA where she initiated the school lunch program. Neva was a 4-H leader, a member of P.E.O., Chapter J and the Toastmistress Club. She also taught hat and sewing classes at the YWCA in several states. Crafts were Neva’s hobby and she specialized in greeting cards while at Wesley Acres.
Neva is survived by one daughter ,Carol Ann (Chester) McManus, Fulton, SD and one son, Larry GeRoe (Lee) Lienemann, Littleton, CO; eight grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Myrle Cummings, Castlewood, SD and one brother, Wayne (Irene) LaDue, Alexandria, SD. She was preceded in death by her husband, George (1989), her parents, one sister, Viva Roth and one brother, Loren LaDue.
