Fredric Oakley was born April 22, 1938, at Sioux Falls, SD, to Lloyd and Shirley (Romanek) Sweet. In 1942, his father died. His mother married Burdette Oakley in 1945, who subsequently brought him up as his own. He graduated from Mount Vernon High School in 1955. In 1960, he graduated from South Dakota State University with an electrical engineering degree, and then received his Master’s Degree from the University of Minnesota. He married Marla Norris September 1, 1962 in Minneapolis, MN. He was employed at Honeywell Corporation and then Fisher-Rosemount, Inc. where he was Senior Vice President of the Minneapolis area. He was a brilliant man, a natural athlete and had an outrageous sense of humor. He loved his family, friends, and business associates; hunting, fishing, reading, flying and was a staunch conservative. He was a member of AOPA, Prior Lake Horse and Hunt Club and the Mount Vernon United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife Marla, and two daughters, Lezlee Oakley of Rhome, TX and Julie Oakley and her husband, Tom Jagger of Golden Valley, MN. He was preceded in death by his father, Lloyd Sweet and his mother Shirley and step-father, Burdette Oakley.
