Margaret Theresa Friedrich was born to William and Mary (Ruettgers) Friedrich on June 30, 1908 on an Indian Reservation in Garrison, SD.  Her father was a member of the SD House of Representatives.  She grew up in Parkston and graduated from Parkston High School.  She worked at the Mitchell Livestock Exchange in Mitchell where she met her husband, Francis Gaetze.  They were married on February 8, 1941 in Parkston and were married for sixty-three years.  She lived with her family in Lead, Gayville, Vermillion, Salem and Mitchell, SD.  She was a resident of the Avera Assisted Living in Mitchell since 2004.

She was looking forward to celebrating her 100th birthday in June.  She was a great woman who was loved by all her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren as well as all of her friends.  She enjoyed crossword puzzles and embroidery. She remembered each child and grandchild’s birthday and anniversary with a card.  She will be greatly missed.
