Lucille Bernice Olson was born October 3, 1919 in Silver Creek Township near Woonsocket, SD to Emil and Alvera (Nurnberg) Larson. She graduated from Forestburg High School in 1937 and earned her teaching degree from General Beadle Normal State Teachers College in Madison, SD. She taught in rural schools in Sanborn County for fourteen years. On October 23, 1955 she married Raymond C. Olson at the Bethany Lutheran Church in Woonsocket. They farmed south of Artesian until moving to Mitchell in 1973. She resided at Wesley Acres for several years and then moved to Countryside Living in November 2007. She was a member of First Lutheran Church and the Women’s Circle.
She is survived by one sister, Lois Weatherford of Mitchell, SD; seven nephews: Wallace Weatherford and wife, Patty of Armour, SD, Thomas Weatherford and wife, Janis of Ladora, IA, Bradley Weatherford and wife, Kathy of Huron, SD, Craig Weatherford and wife, Sok Hwa of Laurel, MD, Frank Larson and wife, Dianne of Pierre, SD, David Larson and wife, Mary of Hill City, SD and Merritt Lee Larson and wife, Kris of Freeman, SD and numerous great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Raymond in August 2001, one brother, Merritt Larson, a brother-in-law, Elmer "Buddy" Weatherford and a sister-in-law, Delores Larson.
