Obituary

 

     Maynard Otto Bietz was born on March 30, 1929 to Otto E. and Martha (Freitag) Bietz at Kaylor, SD.  On April 15, 1929 he was baptized.  He was confirmed on June 6, 1943 at Dennewitz Evangelical Lutheran Church at Kaylor, SD.

      Maynard was married to LaVerne Heinrich on January 3, 1951 at Tripp, SD.  They farmed east of Tripp, SD.  On September 27, 1951, he entered the United States Army.  After basic training, he was sent to Korea, where he drove earth moving equipment for the building of an airfield.  He was discharged on June 26, 1953.

      Maynard and his wife returned to farming and started a small dairy east of Tripp, SD.  In November 1995 Maynard and his wife moved to Mitchell, SD.

      He was a member of the Associated Milk Producers Inc. serving on the Divisional, Regional and Corporate board.  Maynard also served on the Hutchinson County Commission for two terms from 1987 to 1994.  He was a lifetime member of the Jelkins Harms American Legion Post #142.  He was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church at Mitchell, SD.

     He is survived by his wife, LaVerne; one daughter, Marlys Bietz , Pine Haven, WY; two sons: James & Richard, both of  Tripp, SD; a brother, Elmer Bietz and wife, Carol, Tripp, SD; and two sisters: Norma Mogck and husband, Oliver, Tripp, SD and Wilma Herr and husband, Willmer, Tripp, SD.

     He was preceded in death by one son, Marlyn and his parents.

We were so sorry to hear of Maynard's passing but now he is but feel the comfort he is no in and free of all the pain. you are in our thoughts and prayers.

Maynard served on the Lower James RC&D Council while on the County Commission and he did a great job. It was always good to see now and then at Mitchell. He was a very good board member and man - Thanks.
