Margaret Evelyn Hart was born at Bagley, IA April 4, 1926 to Asa Edwin and Jessie May (Corn) Sailer. She graduated from Scranton Consolidated School, Scranton, IA in 1943. She graduated from Methodist State Hospital Nursing School in 1946. Margaret worked at the Green County Hospital at Jefferson, IA from 1946-1947.
On June 22, 1947 she married Lyle W. Hart at Scranton, IA. They lived at Boone, IA from 1947-1948. Following their marriage, they moved to Mitchell where she was employed by the Methodist State Hospital from 1948-1950. In 1958 she started working for St. Joseph Hospital in Mitchell. In 1969 she graduated from the Sacred Heart School of Anesthesia in Yankton, SD. Following graduation she commuted and worked for the Huron Regional Medical Center, Huron, SD from 1969-1973, then Sioux Valley Hospital, Sioux Falls, SD until 1974 when she returned to St. Joseph Hospital in Mitchell and worked there until her retirement in 1993.
She was a long-time member of the Assemblies of God Church, where she was a Sunday school superintendent and teacher and president of the Women’s Missionary Council. In recent years she was a member of the Mitchell Wesleyan Church. She also was a member of the SD Nurses Assoc., the Nurse Anesthetist Association, the Mitchell Garden Club, the National Council of State Garden Clubs, the Woonsocket China Painters, the State Federation of China Painting, the National Council of State Garden Clubs and was a Master Judge with the National Council of Garden Clubs.
She is survived by her children: Lyla Christoffer and husband, Dale, Greenville, MI, Dr. Brett Hart and wife, Judy, Mitchell, SD, Kim Hart and wife, Anita, Greenville, SC; and Sharon Foltz and husband, Robert, Sioux Falls, SD; ten grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one brother, John Sailer, Scranton, IA; one sister, Carolyn Franey and husband, Jerry, Houston, TX; sisters-in-law: Beulah Thomas & husband, Frank, Fishers, IN, Violet Hart, New Port Richie, FL, Florence Hart, Hamden, CT; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lyle (1999); her parents and a sister, Lillian Nelson.
