Gertrude Rhoades was born October 6, 1904 in Davison County to Domnick and Mary (Graff) Schneider. She received her education from schools in Davison County and at the age of twelve moved with her parents to Betts, SD. On October 8, 1930 she married Fay Rhoades at Mount Vernon. They farmed near Mount Vernon until moving to Mitchell in 1966. She moved to the Brady Memorial apartments in 1991 and then moved to Avera Brady Health and Rehab in November 2003. She was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church, the Mitchell Garden Club, Yesteryear Antique Club and the Dakota Discovery Museum.
She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Fay in October 1986, two brothers: Theodore and John, an infant sister, May, an infant brother, Ralph and a sister-in-law, Mildred Schneider.
